Carol Halpin
Centre Manager

Carol started out as a volunteer for a variety of organisations in Winsford before her employment as our Centre Manager.

“During my time as a volunteer I been privileged to have worked with some fantastic community groups and am passionate about the benefits of volunteering. I've realised how having a community building can make such a difference to an area ~ it provides a stable base for community groups and agencies plus allows individuals to access services on their doorstep.

I love working for WINCAP. It's often a challenge to work within tight budgets and timescales but we’ve a great team who, supported by our volunteers, really pull together to achieve successful projects. Although we make sure the important services like training and benefits advice are in place we do also try to include the fun stuff !”.

Lisamarie Smith
Reception/ Admininstrator

Our youngest employee, Lisamarie has certainly made her mark with WINCAP. She has recently completed her NVQ in Business Administration and gained a Diploma in Youth Work. As well as covering reception, Lisamarie also runs 'Changes', a club for young people aged 12-17.

"I started out when I was just 16 as a volunteer doing a little bit of everything, from helping in the junior clubs to running my own projects. I've worked here now for 10 months and I love the flexible hours and friendly way of working - it's like a big family".

Ian Brough
Caretaker

Ian certainly never has the same day twice! As well as opening up for groups, Ian undertakes all the handy work around The Edge.

Neil Hamlett

Project Worker (job share)

Neil was the first paid WINCAP member of staff and has been with us since 2004 as its Project Worker.

Neil has been dedicated in finding out the training needs of local organisations  and finding the funding to provide the training. He has also organised and undertaken various consultation events throughout Winsford.

Annmarie Twydell

Project Worker (job share)

As WINCAP's projects grow and we employ more staff it has become essential to keep track of all the finances.

"I have been with WINCAP for a year now; my position is the 'Book Keeper'. I look after all the finances and salaries so everyone has to be nice to me!!

I'm not originally from Winsford and never heard of WINCAP until I joined them. My back ground has always been in finance either in banks or chasing accounts for companies.

What WINCAP do and what they want to achieve is amazing, they are all about the community and want the best for them. WINCAP wants to build a place where everyone is welcome, where people can learn, get help or just to talk.
Its a good place to be and I don't think all of the community realises it's here and what they do!"

 Sally Brough

Tutor for UK Online

UKOnline needed to employ a friendly and dedicated tutor so Sally was the ideal candidate!

"I started with WINCAP as a volunteer, then a new, one year project called On Track started. Since then I've moved onto UKOnline which teaches the basics of Internet & Email.

As I have qualifications and experience with adult learners I really looked forward to tutoring on the project and have found it very rewarding.

I have enjoyed my time with WINCAP as both a volunteer and an employee and hope that it goes on to thrive and be the heart of the community, where people can access and take part in lots of different events and training opportunities"

 Rachel Rathbone

'SHINE'

Volunteer & Training Manager

"I have been the volunteer and Training Manager at WINCAP for seven months now.

Prior to working for WINCAP I had provided administration support for a number of different organisations and I have also worked in sales, this was alongside pursuing my studies at Undergraduate level in Psychology and Criminology leading to my Postgraduate studies in Forensic Psychology.

My role within WINCAP is to recruit, retain and train volunteers under the age of 16 and over the age of 25.  I thoroughly enjoy my job here at WINCAP; the most rewarding aspect being the opportunity to meet so many different people from a variety of backgrounds. I personally think that The Edge is a diverse and vibrant place to be and I feel very lucky to be working in such a welcoming environment"

Mark runs the Connect project, working with young volunteers ages 14-25.

In his spare time (not that he has very much!) he is Town Councillor for the Over estate.

Ross Carruthers

Youth Development Worker

Ross is literally into his first week as a WINCAP employee but is already meeting and greeting young people throughout Winsford. As with many of other employees, Ross started off as a volunteer helping to run the junior and senior youth clubs.

"I'm WINCAP'S newest team member. Working for WINCAP is the best thing I've ever done; the atmosphere is great with friendly staff and a really welcoming environment. We always aim to make a positive difference to the people in the Winsford area so come down and see us some time".
